Why are Indian flags brought down at sunset?

Indian flags brought down at sunset because there is a provision of keeping the National Flag hoisted only when there is enough lighting towards the Flag.

Hoisting the Flag after sunset, that is under low lighting is seen as a mark of disrespect towards our National Flag. But, a few years back, Congress politician Mr. Naveen Jindal filed a PIL regarding the allowance of the hoisting of National Flag beyond sunset under proper lighting. Mr. Naveen gave an explanation that if proper lighting is available, the National Flag can be hoisted.

After this PIL court agreed and allowed the National Flag to be hoisted beyond sunset too. After this, at various places, one can see the National Flag being hoisted on 24×7.
